Course Description
Point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS) is an increasingly valuable tool used to support the assessment of left ventricular (LV) systolic function in pediatric patients with suspected cardiac dysfunction or hemodynamic compromise. It can be performed rapidly and safely at the bedside, is portable and repeatable, and is free from ionizing radiation, making it well suited for time-sensitive clinical environments where physical examination findings may be subtle and access to formal echocardiography may be delayed. The KidSONO Left Ventricular Function module provides a structured, qualitative approach to assessing global LV function using standard cardiac views, while reinforcing appropriate scope of practice and the importance of formal cardiology evaluation when indicated.
